Erwin Schrott - Invitée surprise
Yesterday I had the great joy and honour to sing two duets with the fantastic Erwin Schrott for his recital Rojotango in Opera des Nations.
I jumped in at the very last minute, thanks to the Grand Théâtre (and especially Mathilde Fasso) who gave my name when Erwin asked for someone who could sing this répertoire to substitute the soprano who usually sing with him. It was quite a challenge to learn those two duets in spanish and by heart, but I had few hours in the train to do so. And when I heard the music I thought : yes, this is totally something I'll enjoy singing. Not really classical, not completely jazzy, typical warm latin music. So we had one rehearsal the D-Day and here I was, sharing the stage with this great artist. And a great artist he is, singing with passion, with joy, with energy, with charm and with those many different colours....
AND WHAT A SHOW !!!!! The musiciens were TOP QUALITY and the public was dancing and singing and laughing. It was a show, it was a concert, it was a party, it was South America at its best. And I'm honoured to have been given the chance to be part of it :)
It made me so happy also because, as you know, it is one of my goal to break the walls which are surrounding classical music and to reach out a more diverse public. As Erwin told me," we were born in the hospital". He was right. When I saw this show I realised that this is definitively what we need and it feels good to know that the great singers of our times are aiming for the same goal !!!
THANK YOU Erwin for your kindness and natural and trust.
Here few pictures as a souvenir, from Magali Dougados !
