Italiana in Algeri, Rossini, title role for the Festival Rossini in Wildbad (De)
DONE ! What a relief, what a joy, to know that I actually can sing a title role through ! You never know untill you experience it. I had the chance to get an answer here, in Wildbad -Germany- for the Rossini Festival.
It was my dream to make my debut as a soloist with the role of Isabella from l'Italiana in Algeri (Rossini). I saw this opera so many times, and each time I was laughing so much, and could recognize myself in this strong, young, latin, sensual, sparkling, and joyful Isabella.
And here I am, working since three weeks to make it happen. And I can tell you that I have been working very hard but with a lot of pleasure too. Indeed, the cast of the Rossini Akademy is fantastic. Talented musicians, beautiful voices, and funny behavior on stage : the dream team. Moreover, the orchestra (from Tcheck Republic) and the choir (from Poland), both specialists of Rossini (invited to this festival since years) were amazing. And our great conductor, José Miguel Pérez-Sierra, made it easy for us all, leading us to a very natural and fine way to sing this opera. Last but not least, we had the help of the stage director Antonio Petris for a semi-stage show, the work on recitatives with Lorenzo Regazzo, and the musical coach Raul Gimenez to make it a high level belcanto concert.
In parallel I also sang Costanza in the Opéra "Bianca e Falliero" (Rossini), which will be released as a CD. The cast was breathtaking : Cinzia Forte, Victoria Yarovaya (my new favorite mezzo), Ken Tarver....and the great Maestro Fogliani to lead us with passion and precise gestures.
How could it possibly be better for a debut?
I am thankful to all those professionals who shared their experiences and knowledge with us, and for the incredible moments I had (both on and off stage) with my colleagues all those weeks.
Special thanks to my family and my teacher Heidi Brunner for being here to give me their love and support and share this special and important moment with me.
And of course, Merci Jochen Schoenleber for giving me the chance to make my debut at your festival!

Translation : "Particulary, making her debut with the role of Isabella, the young and very promising Marina Viotti offers with her acrobatic mezzo voice, perfectly balanced in every registers, and with a dark colour, a singing pleasure of a rare quality"
Translation : "In the title role, the Swiss mezzo Marina Viotti has everything we could dream of to give Grace to a Rossini mezzo-coloratura"
