Marina VIOTTI : “A real personality, an artist through and through”(Nu- ances magazine)
Marina was born in Switzerland, her parents both being musicians, and grew up in France. She got a diploma of flute at 17 years old. Curious by nature, she did not only study classical music, but also explored jazz, met- al or chanson.
After a Master's degree for philosophy and literature, she went to Vienna where she started her vocal education with Heidi Brunner in 2010. She quickly became a member of the Vienna Singverein Choir and the Gustav Mahler Choir at the Vienna Staatsoper.
In 2013 Marina got accepted in Lausanne HEMU in the singing class of
Brigitte Balleys for a soloist Master degree. She sang in several produc- tions as a soloist in 2014: Ravel L’Enfant et les sortilèges(Cat/Dragonfly),
Duke Ellington Sacred Songs, Le Roi David (Honegger) and Britten Turn of the Screw (Mrs Grose).
In 2015-16 she sang Dritte Dame (Zauberflöte), La Marchande de journaux (Les Mamelles de Tire- sias), L’enfant et les sortilèges (Mother and Dragonfly) and Martha in Faust at the Opéra de Lau- sanne. She was Isabella (L’italiana in Algeri) at the Rossini Festival of Wildbad (De) and Lucia (Il Con- te di Marsico, Balducci) in Barcelona.
Marina has also been heard in several concerts as a soloist: El amor brujo (De Falla) with the OSI, Beethoven Messe en C, La Petite Messe solennelle, Der Rose Pilgerfahrt (Schumann), Kindertoten- lieder (Mahler) and The seven sayings of Christ (Haydn) with the OCL, Zelenka Requiem with the Capriccio orchestra, Verdi Requiem, Les Nuits d’été (Berlioz) with Macon orchestra and many more. She is regularly invited by festivals (Lavaux Classics, Solothurn Classics, Label Suisse) to perform her recital “Love has no borders” and “De Bach à Piaf, chansons d’amour”, from Switzerland to Brasil. Marina is lauréate of the Bourse Mosetti, the Weltner Stiftung, the Bourse Migros and the Bourse Leenards. She also won the first Price and the Orchestra Price at the Mâcon International singing competition in 2015 and the International Belcanto Price at the Rossini Festival of Wildbad.
Next season she will be part of the Young Soloist Ensemble at Geneva Opera, and will sing Maddale- na (Rigoletto) and Isabella (Italiana in Algeri) in Luzern Opera. She also will make her debut in the Liceu (Barcelona) with Mélibéa in Il VIaggio a Reims (Rossini).
